Meet QUALPOR

11/25/2024

The QUALPOR Affinity Group is dedicated to advancing qualitative methods within AAPOR. QUALPOR hosts bi-annual membership meetings, AAPOR conference events (a networking event and the QUALPOR Panel) and offers member-led initiatives. We are thrilled to have had a great 2024 and look forward to a busy 2025!

QUALPOR now has more than 200 members, and we are eager to expand our educational and networking offerings in 2025.

First, we are excited to continue the work of our four current initiatives:

● Sensitive Topics is focused on creating standards for identifying sensitive topics, best practices for participants, interviews, and analysts. Contact: Mariel Leonard, m.mckone.leonard@gmail.com

● Learning Bursts is a series of professional development sessions (e.g., panels, conversations, workshops) which provide an opportunity for discussion and interactive engagement. Contact: Kathleen Kephardt, kathleen.kephart@gmail.com

● Standards and Best Practices is working to create a set of standards and best practices around qualitative research for all AAPOR members. Contact: Amber Ott, amber@hudsonpacific.co

● QUALPOR Newsletter is bi-annual, features informative articles and is posted on the QUALPOR page of the AAPOR site for all to access. Contact: Margaret Roller, rmr@rollerresearch.com

In 2025, we are also pleased to establish our Coffee and Tea Chats Initiative, which will feature monthly, lightly structured opportunities for QUALPOR members to discuss different topics in qualitative research, methods, and more. The first Coffee and Tea Chat will be held in January 2025. Contact: Melissa Dunn Silesky, melissahdunn@gmail.com.

QUALPOR is open to anyone interested in qualitative research, whether you are a seasoned researcher working with qualitative methods, just getting started, or want to become more familiar with qualitative research design.
