From the President’s Desk

My fellow AAPOR members,

I hope you all had a refreshing and productive summer! As we dive into the fall, I’m excited to share a few updates with you.

This Thursday, we’ll be gathering for our next council meeting, where we’ll be discussing the planned initiatives of our committees and subcommittees. As always, the minutes will be shared here so that everyone can stay informed and engaged.

I’m also thrilled to announce a new collaboration with the Natural Language Processing communities. Through connections with both the American Statistical Association and the Association for Computational Linguistics, we’ll be co-hosting a workshop on Surveys and AI with DC-AAPOR at the University of Maryland on October 7. Registration is now open, and this event will feature six mini-courses. Our education committee is also expanding its offerings in this space—exciting times for our continued growth in educational resources! Speaking of education, don’t forget that we’ve just launched the JPSM/AAPOR citation program, a project that’s been many years in the making.

And of course, with the election season heating up, I know many of you have your hands full. Your work is vital, and I want to express my deepest gratitude for the excellent efforts you all put into this space. When interacting with stakeholders or journalists, please take the opportunity to remind them about AAPOR and the important work we do.

Let’s continue to move forward together with the same enthusiasm and dedication that defines our community.

Warm regards,

Frauke Kreuter

President, AAPOR
