Introducing the Pioneers in Survey Research Interview Series

03/04/2026

Dear AAPOR Community,

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Pioneers in Survey Research Interview Series, a new initiative from the AAPOR History Subcommittee designed to honor and preserve the legacies of trailblazers who have broken down barriers and made lasting impacts within our profession.

Building on the success of the AAPOR Heritage Interview Series, this new series specifically focuses on individuals who have introduced innovative methodologies, advocated for inclusion of all people in the profession, or significantly influenced public opinion and policy through their groundbreaking work. The series will feature diverse voices from across industries and aspects of survey research.

We are especially proud to launch this series by celebrating the groundbreaking and transformative contributions of African American scholars to survey research. Our first three interviews will highlight their career trajectories and work in establishing the National Survey of Black Americans and the National Survey of American Life.

Please join me in thanking Rodrego Byerly from EVITARUS, who took the time to moderate these fantastic conversations, as well as AAPOR Membership & Chapter Relations Chair Dakisha Locklear, who pushed for this interview series to come to life.

These interviews not only celebrate individual contributions but also underscore the collective progress of our field. We invite you to watch, reflect, and share these important conversations that help preserve the rich history of survey research.

Best regards,

Jason Kosakow
AAPOR History Subcommittee Chair
