Coalition Letter in Support on Science

AAPOR signed this letter, coordinated by the American Psychological Association, in February 2025. This letter underscores the support for scientific integrity, stable research funding, academic freedom, and access to resources. This letter has been shared by supporters, on the American Association for the Advancement of Science website  and in the March issue of the Chronicle of Higher Education

 Protecting and Preserving Public Access to Federal Data

AAPOR signed this letter, coordinated by the Council of Professional Associations on Federal Statistics, American Statistical Association, and Population Association of America in January 2025. This letter expressed collective concerns over data being removed from federal websites and called on Congress to restore the data while preventing this from happening in the future. The public is encouraged to share this letter with their representatives. 

AAPOR Statement on Access to Federal Data

AAPOR released a statement in February 2025 emphasizing their commitment to upholding the highest standards of scientific integrity which include transparency in research, responsible accessibility, and open engagement with data users. This includes timely public notification, clear criteria for review and revision, and a defined timeline for completion. Data access must be restored as quickly as possible, and any changes to datasets or documentation be clearly cited.

The Consortium of Social Science Associations (COSSA)

AAPOR is an active member of The Consortium of Social Science Associations (COSSA) which is a nonprofit advocacy organization which works to promote and advance the social and behavioral sciences in federal policymaking. COSSA serves as a united voice for organizations, institutions, communities, and stakeholders who care about a successful and vibrant social science research enterprise. COSSA’s policy experts work with a broad network of advocates to ensure sustainable federal funding for social and behavioral science research and the widespread use of our sciences in policymaking.
