Transparency Initiative Update

02/03/2017

AAPOR’s Transparency Initiative committee members are busy conducting current members’ biennial reviews.  At this year’s AAPOR conference the TI committee will set up a table in the exhibit hall with the goal of recruiting new members and catching up with existing members.  The TI will also have a full panel presentation on Friday May 19 from 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM at this year’s conference. As part of our continued outreach, we would like to focus on one of our charter members – Langer Research Associates – who joined the TI in November 2014.

After 20 years of producing award-winning public opinion surveys for ABC News and its international media partners, Langer Research Associates was founded in August 2010. Integrity in Research™ is their promise. Their custom research draws on extensive experience producing more than 700 attitudinal surveys across a broad range of subjects. They emphasize appropriate methodology, optimal questionnaire design, high-level statistical modeling and data-driven analysis that peels back complexity to reveal clear, actionable conclusions. Their motto is “We know what to ask, how to ask it – and how to understand the answers”.

According to Gary Langer, president of Langer Research Associates, “Participating in the Transparency Initiative is a natural extension of our commitment to AAPOR. As individual members we pledge to uphold the AAPOR code.  The TI simply lets us extend
that pledge to our company as a whole.  We’re proud to participate.”  Besides complying with the TI, Langer Research Associates also adheres to the Principles of Disclosure of the National Council on Public Polls.  Their familiarity with these principles is more than passing: They have been at the forefront of the standards and disclosure movement in survey research for many years.

As a charter member of AAPOR’s Transparency Initiative Langer Research Associates is fully compliant with TI disclosure rules; see, for example, their disclosure of ABC News/Washington Post poll methodology and sample dispositions found on their website.  Also, in contracting for data collection and data processing services Langer Research Associates strive whenever possible to work with fellow TI members, in recognition of their commitment to transparency in research. They are honored to work with four such preferred partners – SSRS, SRBI, D3 Systems and GfK Government & Academic/GfK Public Communications & Social Sciences.

AAPOR’s Transparency Initiative is proud to have Langer Research Associates as one of its charter members. To find out more about AAPOR’s Transparency Initiative, please visit http://www.aapor.org/transparency.aspx
