Join us in Chicago in May!

02/09/2022

Happy New Year, AAPORites! I hope that each of you are having a happy and healthy 2022 so far!

You may be wondering, is AAPOR really going to be in-person this year? Will I get to present my latest findings in front of a live audience, wander the exhibit hall and collect some swag, bump fists or tap elbows with my old friends, and make new connections?

As of now, the answer is YES!  We are feeling optimistic that the Omicron variant will subside and that public health conditions will be in a good enough place to allow us to gather safely in Chicago on May 11-13. AAPOR has formed a special Health and Safety Committee that is providing us with the latest guidance on the pandemic and is recommending measures to reduce risks for our conference participants. Our plans will be evolving over the next few months, so please visit our Health and Safety Hub on the AAPOR conference website frequently for updates.

Over 780 abstracts were submitted for this year’s conference, which is an increase of more than 25% over last year and is much closer to our typical number of submissions in non-pandemic times. Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit an abstract  These abstracts were peer-reviewed by more than 180 AAPORites in November. Our amazing Abstract Review Committee met for two full days in early December to put together this year’s program, and it looks AMAZING. Abstract decision letters were sent out in mid-January. An enormous thank you to all who contributed and reviewed abstracts for this year’s conference!

Conference registration is open and the early bird deadline is March 23. For those traveling to Chicago, be sure to make your hotel reservations soon to ensure you can stay onsite at the Sheraton Grand Chicago.

You’ll notice that our registration site looks a little different this year:

The AAPOR Conference Committee is hard at work putting together a fantastic conference for you. We will need session moderators, docents, and other volunteers for different conference-related events, so keep your eyes open for opportunities to get involved!
