Happy Holidays AAPOR Members
11/18/2022
I know this can be a busy time of year, but that gives us all the more reason to take the time to reflect on our accomplishments. In 2015, AAPOR has:
- Passed new, updated Bylaws and a revised Code of Professional Ethics and Practices (twice!);
- Had an exceptional response to our Transparency Initiative with 77 charter members;
- Hosted a successful 70th annual conference in Hollywood, Florida, and are well underway planning the 2016 conference in Austin, Texas
- Established new membership outreach and retention activities;
- Posted a revised and enhanced set of Election Polling Resources
- Issued a statement on Protecting Respondent Confidentiality in Litigation Surveys
- Responded to public comment on the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to strengthen, modernize, and make Federal regulations more effective in protecting human research subjects (known as the Common Rule);
- Established a committee to coordinate and lead activities related to the TCPA rulings and their subsequent implications;
- As part of the bylaws revision, established the Education Chair as an elected Executive Council position;
- Participated in other events with key strategic partners, including ESOMAR, WAPOR, and APPAM;
- Released the Task Force Report on Big Data
- Issued the 8th edition of our Standard Definitions report
- Formalized our co-relationship with the Regional Chapters;
- Continued and enhanced our webinar educational series
- Launched efforts to broaden and enhance AAPOR’s diversity and inclusion throughout the organization;
- Modernized our newsletter and other communication vehicles for both our members and our external audiences;
- Restructured and launched our finance-related committees including new Sponsorship and Development Subcommittees;
- Maintained and enhanced our financial health through an exceptional Annual Conference and Membership drives;
- Brought on board new, enthusiastic staff members, including a new Executive Director;
- And, so much more…
I realize that in thinking back over the year and planning what’s ahead for us in 2016, I can’t help but be filled with gratitude and appreciation for all of you – particularly those of you who volunteer and give so graciously of your time and energy to our chapters, our committees and subcommittees, our Task Forces, our students, our conferences, our educational activities, and our industry as a whole. Without your efforts and commitment, AAPOR would be nothing more than a list of members. It is because of all that we do, discuss, debate, and execute together that we are instead a vibrant community learning from one another and working toward a brighter future for public opinion and survey research.
Leading the way are the members of your AAPOR Executive Council who work so diligently and effectively on behalf of us all. They are an exceptional group of individuals who give so much of themselves to make sure that AAPOR, and our industry, are left better off after their terms end. Together they strive, deliberate, and lead their committees through what can feel sometimes like treacherous and challenging terrains, all with the goal of making us a stronger community. I am so thankful to each of them for their contributions and their commitment and so grateful for their making 2015 such a banner year for AAPOR, and for me personally.
I wish you all a wonderful, joyful, warm holiday season and look forward to so much more in 2016!
Happy Holidays!
Molly
AAPOR President, 2015-2016
