10/18/2024

The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research at Cornell University and the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) are pleased to renew their partnership in offering the W.E.B. Du Bois Fellowship in Support of Diversity and Inclusion through 2026.

This fellowship is open to graduate students currently enrolled in a U.S. college or university with a focus on students who identify as a member of a racial or ethnic minority group that has been underrepresented in the field of public opinion research. Fellowship efforts will be primarily focused on the development of introductory-level instructional materials for use by educators.

AAPOR’s involvement will be in the form of complimentary membership for the fellows, financial support, review of application materials and co-selection of fellows, and providing curriculum and outreach support.

“This renewal of the Du Bois Fellowship reaffirms the commitment by AAPOR and the Roper Center to the next generation of public opinion researchers,” said Jonathon P. Schuldt, Executive Director of the Roper Center and Professor of Communication and Public Policy at Cornell University. “Diversity and inclusion are key to excellence in public opinion research, and fundamental to understanding the wide range of viewpoints in society.”

“AAPOR is excited to continue our longstanding relationship with the Roper Center through the support of the Du Bois Fellowship. True progress in our field comes from the inclusion of all voices and experiences. This fellowship embraces students from all backgrounds, and not only nurtures innovation but also strengthens our collective growth,” said Frauke Kreuter, AAPOR President.
