Passing the Gavel

06/02/2026

Dear AAPOR Members,

Now that I have transitioned from President to Past President, I want to take a moment to thank you for the opportunity to serve AAPOR over the past year.

It has been a true privilege to help lead this association during a time that has brought real challenges to our field and our profession. Through it all, I have been continually reminded of the strength of this community. I am so impressed by our community’s resilience, generosity, and deep commitment to the work we do.

That feeling was especially strong at this year’s conference. Being surrounded by so many people who care deeply about AAPOR and about public opinion and survey research was energizing and joyful. I left feeling proud of this association and grateful to be part of a community that continues to meet change and uncertainty with seriousness, creativity, and purpose.

Jordon Peugh passing the gavel to Mary Losch

I am very pleased to “pass the gavel” to Mary Losch. Mary brings deep knowledge of AAPOR, thoughtful leadership, and a strong commitment to this association and its members. AAPOR is in very good hands with Mary at the helm. I am equally excited about the creativity and perspective that incoming Vice President Bob Torango will bring to the team.

I am deeply grateful to the Executive Council, our committees and task forces, our staff, and to all of you who continue to give your time, ideas, and energy to AAPOR.

This association is strong because so many people care about it and continue to invest in its future.

As Past President, I look forward to continuing to support AAPOR, with particular focus on helping further our work on governance and leadership pipeline-building. These are important efforts for the future of the association, and I am glad to remain part of them.

Thank you again for the privilege of serving as your President. It has meant a great deal to me.

Sincerely,
Jordon Peugh
AAPOR Past President
