Call for Nominations: 2025-2026 Executive Council

10/04/2024

Each year, we ask the AAPOR community to nominate qualified candidates for service on ‎AAPOR’s Executive Council. Council members represent the general membership and provide ‎leadership and oversight for AAPOR’s policies, finances, and activities.
AAPOR’s Executive Council should reflect the talents and diverse perspectives of our ‎organization. Service on the Council is a chance to make a real difference in the strategic ‎direction of the association and progress in our field. It is one of the most important and ‎rewarding things one can do in one’s career. We seek your help in identifying individuals who can ‎provide valuable contributions towards the future of the organization. If you are one of those people, you are welcome to nominate yourself. ‎
We know that for many years, the time requirements for serving on Council have been immense. While it is still a large commitment, with the support of experienced AAPOR staff, we can confidently say that the roles are much more manageable than they have been in past years. We invite you to review these updated descriptions of each Council position to get a better understanding of what will be asked for those that wish to serve.
Please use the online nomination form to submit the names of qualified AAPOR members for ‎service on the Executive Council. Completing the first part of the form is simple and should ‎require less than five minutes of your time. Complete and return the ‎nomination form as soon as possible. The deadline is 11:59 pm ET on November 15, 2024.‎‎
The Nominations Committee, chaired by Past President Jennifer Agiesta, will consider all names that ‎are submitted and make recommendations to AAPOR Council in January 2025. The Council will ‎select for each office the final two-candidate slate on which members will vote.‎
Elections for Council will be held in the spring of 2025. The Vice President/President-Elect ‎and Councilor-at-Large serve for three years; all other Councilors serve for two years.‎ While some positions have restrictions based on employment sector, no restrictions are in place for this election.
Many thanks for taking the time to consider who can best serve AAPOR in these various roles. If you know of qualified colleagues (including yourself) to serve on the Executive Council, please use the online nomination form to submit their names. This is your chance to help AAPOR thrive!
