AAPOR Update from the President

Dear AAPOR Members,
I hope you’re having a great summer and finding time to recharge. I’m writing to share a few important updates from our work together at AAPOR, including highlights from our June 24th Council meeting.
AAPOR Governance Related Activities
Executive Director Search: Over 70 applications received; the Search Committee is actively scoring and screening candidates.
By-Laws and Code Review (2025–2026): Led by AAPOR’s Councilors-at-Large and Standards Chairs, the review process is underway.
Governance Review: The Task Force is reviewing the recommendations provided by our consultant and preparing final recommendations for Council consideration.
Finances: Our first virtual town hall on AAPOR finances drew 40+ members. Click here to watch the recording.
Upcoming AAPOR Initiatives and Educational Opportunities
Conference Committee: Planning some post-conference activities to bring content to AAPOR members who could not make the event and to provide a forum for members who wanted to present but were not able to make it this year. Stay tuned for more information on this.
Education Committee: Two upcoming webinars, SurvAI or Survey on July 24th, and Panel Symphony on August 21st. Have ideas for future webinars? Submit them here.
Standards Committee: Two new AAPOR publications are coming soon—guidance on text message surveys and ethical issues in data linking.
The 2024 Pre-Election Polling Task Force: The Task Force is finalizing its analysis and report, with approval expected by year-end.
Task Force on AI in Survey Research: AAPOR has launched a new Task Force on Responsible AI Integration in Survey Research to guide our field through this fast-evolving area.
2026 Conference Planning: Conference Chair Morgan Earp is developing the theme. The Call for Short Courses is now open. Submit your ideas here.
