PAPOR is a group of busy, successful research professionals primarily from Western states such as Washington state, Oregon, California, Utah, and Nevada, although residence in the West in not required.

The group publishes the newsletter PAPOR Trail via e-mail and online, and holds a yearly conference which includes panels, a lively Student Paper Competition, a short course, and a poster session. The 2008 Chapter conference will again be held at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel near Union Squire in San Francisco on December 11 and 12, 2008.
